holding my breath

Dear My Very Best Friends,

These days, I have been spending a lot of time underwater. While this has been a great way to keep cool in the summer heat, I've actually been preparing for the '07 Oasis USA Annual Triathlon. Many of you will likely remember raising funds and awareness with me back in March with the LA Marathon. Here is a chance to continue our fight against Human Trafficking and Slavery. Yay!

From Cocoa to Camel Jockeys to Prostitution, Human Trafficking continues throughout the world as a cheap source of labor. Unfortunately, not even our own country's borders are immune to this crime. The US State Department estimates that 14,500 - 17,500 people are trafficked onto US soil each year.

"The Slave Trade, Human Trafficking, this is the fastest growing global crime. Trafficking is one form of modern day slavery where men, women and children are taken by deception or violence from their homes for exploitation." (Oasisglobal.org)

How can you make a difference? Well, just by being at this website you are increasing awareness of the issue. Click the links on this page and spread your knowledge! The universe thanks you. If you would like to support me by giving to Oasis USA financially, you may do so by clicking on the Link Below.

Thanks again,

Josh

p.s. please pray that i do not swallow water, or get water in my goggles while i swim. I hate that crap.

who you are?
josh adachi
and about 30 other participants.

wha?
1/2 mile swim
12.5 mile bicycle ride
3 mile run

wherefore wilt thither find?
Rose Bowl and the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center

when the time is?
September 15th 7:00 AM

why for?
Prevent the Sale of People
Rehabilitate the Victims
Prosecute the Traffickers

how's it going?
Training has been going well. I have been swimming about 4 times per week for the past
couple months and
I am now able to swim 800 meters without stopping,
although I have yet to put that in context of the whole triathlon. I'm not too worried
about that as
the swim comes first, and I should be able to catch enough breath during
my bike ride to prepare me for the run.
Running 3 miles? I can't help but say "pshhh"
after running 26.2 last March. Since I'll be trying to go as fast as I can, though, this will
probably still kill me.

Where does my donation go?
Your fundraising will go directly to work to end Human Trafficking both here in the USA and globally. It will be used to free those caught in slavery and it will be used to rehabilitate and restore those who have been rescued. It will also help fund programs, education and trainings to prevent the sale of people.

What has been Oasis USA's involvement?
Oasis USA raises awareness about the issues of Human Trafficking, it provides education to schools, churches and community groups, it trains people in how to identify and report suspected victims and it supports those who are victims of trafficking both locally and globally.

Where does the money go?
Your money will go to 3 aspects...
It will help to:
Prevent the Sale of People
Protect the Victims
Prosecute the Traffickers

In order to do this Oasis needs funds to:
Reach, resource and educate people
Assist in victim rescue and rehabilitation
Lobby government and global policy making organizations.

Every penny you raise will go directly into the work of helping to end Human Trafficking.
